September 4th- October 27th
Artist reception- September 15th 6-9pm
Artist appreciation and interpretations of our awe-inspiring surroundings, both Show More...natural and man-made. The landscape as a subject for painters has been long standing favorite. For some it is the engaging experience on being surrounded by their muse, for others it is a longing for a distant place while diligently working in a controlled space. Paintings of the space we inhabit and have yet to visit speak volumes to the relationship we have with the greater world, it's humbling while intimate. We are part of something synergistic, a cycle, a constant change. Part of the greatness of capturing a scene is that it is eternally secured, now a moment in time encapsulated and celebrated for others to enjoy beyond that which happened just once. This collection of works give a not only an appreciation for the skill and talents of the artists but an opportunity for the viewers to look through a unique lens at something glorious and yet often taken for granted.

Star of the Day Journeys to the Dark Side this fall with Jekyll & Hyde The Musical.
Based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson and featuring Show More...a thrilling score of pop rock hits from multi Grammy and Tony® nominated Frank Wildhorn and double Oscar and Grammy winning Leslie Bricusse, JEKYLL & HYDE has mesmerized audiences the world over. An evocative tale of two men, one a doctor, passionate and romantic, and the other, a terrifying madman, and two women, one beautiful and trusting and the other, beautiful and trusting only herself. Both unaware of his dark secret. Their story unfolds in this gripping musical thriller resplendent with a sumptuous score including the unforgettable, "This is the Moment," "Someone Like You" and "A New Life." It would be a sin to miss it.
As Star of the Day prepares to kick off the Halloween Season in Quakertown, they are looking to make it a more intimate experience for the audience by including the seating areas an extension of the stage. This intimate 185 seat black box thrust is the perfect venue to do just that. The director, Daniel Petrovich, a veteran to the stage in the Lehigh Valley, has kept the cast small in order to offer this intimate, chilling experience to everyone. Lighting and costumes will also help act as extension of the cast to create varying looks throughout the show.
Starring as Jekyll/Hyde is Brady Love. Mr. Love is fairly new to the Lehigh Valley. He just completed a run with Catasaqua Area Showcase Theatre as the Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast this past spring. In the role of Lucy Harris is Southern Lehigh High School graduate Lauren Jardine. These two powerhouse performers will be joined by a dynamic cast made of 18 talented actors from the Lehigh Valley and beyond. The show will be musically directed by Oliver Blatt, Choreographed by Kirsten Almeida, and Stage Managed by Alexis Leon.
Performances take place at McCoole's Arts & Events Place in Quakertown, PA September 15 - 30, 2017.

A native plant sale will take place in Lambertville on Saturday, September 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cavallo Park, 2 Mount Hope Street. Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve will have representatives and information available. The sponsors of the event, the new volunteer group Lambertville Goes Wild, will have experts available to help identify mystery plants from your property.
Lambertville Goes Wild is promoting wider use of native plants as a key part of its aim to certify the City of Lambertville as a Community Wildlife Habitat recognized by the National Wildlife Federation. The Lambertville City Council recently passed a resolution supporting the plans of Lambertville Goes Wild to achieve City certification.
For Lambertville to become a Community Wildlife Habitat, several public spaces, such as parks and schools, and about 100 private properties need to support native species such as butterflies, birds, and bees by providing food, water, cover, and places to raise young. Native plants are the critical foundation for meeting all these needs. With the addition of native plants, Lambertville will become a more welcoming place for both wildlife and people.
Lambertville Goes Wild is working to identify, enhance, and certify select public spaces and is reaching out to the residents of Lambertville to encourage and assist them in certifying their properties. More information is available at LambertvilleGoesWild.weebly.com, and at the plant sale on September 23.

Fridays, September 15, 22, 29 at 8PM, Saturdays, September 16, 23, 30 at 8PM, and Sundays, September 17 & 24 at 2PM. Tickets range $18 - $25. Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. He was also well known for his work in stained glass. In addition to a significant investigation of Sotter's nocturnal landscapes, Light and Shadow will present the various other types of landscape he produced throughout his career, and will introduce his work as a stained-glass artist, and examine the artistic exchange between the media in which he worked. Chronological and geographic in scope, the exhibition will also provide a regional context for the nocturne theme-the subject with which Sotter is most often recognized-and will include nocturne subjects by many of his Bucks County artistic contemporaries as well as some from further afield.. ...Show Less

On September 24, 2017 the Travis Manion Foundation will host its 10th annual 9/11 Heroes Run in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, which is the oldest 9/11 Heroes Show More...Run in the world. The 9/11 Heroes Run, now a worldwide, annual event hosted in over 51 locations across the United States and abroad, began in Doylestown in 2007 to unite the community in remembrance and appreciation of the sacrifices of the heroes of the September 11th attacks and in the wars since. The Doylestown race has grown from 200 runners in its inaugural year to more than 2,700 runners and walkers in the 2016 race.
The Doylestown 9/11 Heroes Run 5K race will take place at Fonthill Park (located at the corner of Swamp Road and Court Street in Doylestown, PA 18901). Registration is open for both the 5K and the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, and runners and walkers of all levels and ages are invited and encouraged to participate. The opening ceremony, which precedes the run/walk, will begin at 1:00pm, the family-friendly 1M fun run/walk will begin at 1:45pm, and the 5K race will begin at 2:00pm. Day-of registration closes at 12:30pm.
Proceeds from the 2017 Doylestown 9/11 Heroes Run will benefit Doylestown Fire Company #1, Central Bucks Regional Police Foundation, the Travis Manion Foundation and The Colby Umbrell Memorial Fund.
In 2016, the Doylestown 9/11 Heroes Run alone raised over $149,919.89. Of the funds raised, $123,423.89 was donated to the Travis Manion Foundation and its Character Does Matter Program. The Character Does Matter Program engages veterans and families of fallen heroes to inspire young adults to live with character, develop their leadership skills, and activate them to serve their communities in honor of fallen heroes. In addition, the Doylestown 9/11 Heroes Run was proud to support numerous local service organizations, including: $9,000 to Doylestown Fire Company #1; $5,000 to 1st Lt. Colby Umbrell Memorial Fund; and $5,000 to the Central Bucks Family YMCA Veterans Pathway program. Additionally, proceeds from the race supported Cpl. William Doucette, Ofc. David Carlen, Bucks County Parks and Recreation, Fonthill Museum, and the Quakertown Borough Police K-9 Unit.
The 9/11 Heroes Run series was inspired by Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion (USMC), a Doylestown native who was killed by a sniper in Iraq in April 2007 as he selflessly protected his battalion. Before his final deployment, Travis visited Rescue One in NYC-famous for losing almost all of their men on 9/11-and returned home with deeper passion about why he was fighting in Iraq. At its heart, the 9/11 Heroes Run is a tribute to Travis' personal commitment as well as all America's heroes from September 11th and the wars since.
Reflecting on Travis's life and character, Christopher Manion - Travis's uncle, an original founder of the 9/11 Heroes Run, and 2017 Race Director - stated, "Travis was a selfless person who always made people feel like they were important to him. He lived that way until his final heroic act, and he was a great example of those who serve. We should never forget our brave men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country."
Registration is now open for the run/walk. To learn more, to register, and to donate, please visit http://www.travismanion.org/tmf_911run_race/doylestown-911-heroes-run/.
Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) is a qualified 501(c)3non-profit that empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..."
Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation's heroes live on in the next generation.
